The Solar Plexus Is Your Personal Energy Core

If you want to present the best version of yourself, it’s time to polish your tesseract.  Actually, we all have one.  In fact, understanding and caring for our personal energy core is the key to successful creation, in every area of life. ‘Manipura’ is the Sanskrit name for the third chakra or energy centre.  In reality, the solar plexus is your personal energy core and when we understand its function in daily life, we realise just how important it is.

Of course, if you think understanding energy centres and chakras has nothing to do with business performance, think again. Indeed, the solar plexus — also called the celiac plexus — is a complex system of radiating nerves and ganglia. It’s found in the pit of the stomach in front of the aorta. It’s part of the sympathetic nervous system. [1]

How Does Solar Plexus Health Impact Your Business Environment?

Essentially, the Solar Plexus relates to the transformation of self into a being of power and will, otherwise known as motivation.  Moreover, at a societal or business level, this energy centre dictates how we behave in partnerships, in teams, and how we communicate.  Accordingly, balance in this energy core also impacts our creativity.  In fact, where balance exists, we can use our logic in conjunction with our creative and intuitive right brain function.  Therefore, if you want to feel comfortable as a self-motivated individual, whilst maintaining strong links with your team, you’ll be interested in finding out how to balance your personal energy core.

The Impact Of Imbalance On Our Working Relationships - A Prime Example

One of my clients came to me to address feelings of rage after missing out on a promotion at work.  Consequently, my client felt sidelined and was troubled by feelings of injustice. So, what was the reason given by the company?  Quite simply, an inability to work as part of the team and connect with people on a human level.

As we started to unravel my client’s internal monologue, and current belief system, it turned out that we were dealing with an addiction to work.  Moreover, my client’s work had become the most important thing in life.  It was the be all and end all.  You can forget the concept of work-life balance.  A personal life did not even feature.  Additionally, my client was experiencing constant fatigue, chronic digestive problems including irritable bowel syndrome, and a constant feeling of fear, dread and paranoia.

What Did We Do About It?

I believe balance can be restored to the third energy centre through emotional release.  In fact, I think of the solar plexus as the emotional bucket.  Accordingly, it stores all past negative emotion within its core.  What’s more, when the bucket is full, the chakra operates outside of balance. Finally, it facilitates our ability to release fear and operate from a foundation of trust.

Additionally, a reframing of the belief system supports the release of paranoid thoughts, illusions of control, and separation from others due to ego perception. In actual fact, aggressive or controlling behaviour is generally indicative of an inherent lack of confidence.

In conjunction with mindset shift work, I directed my client towards a path of regular exercise.  Namely, cardio-vascular exercise, yoga and Tai Chi.  Personally, I believe that a mindset shift works more effectively when delivered in conjunction with physical training.  Hence, engaging in a multi-pronged approach creates healthier habits and a more profound impact.

What Is A Chakra?

Chakra System And Energy Centres

While anatomically undetectable, the seven major chakras are metaphysically linked with different systems in the physical body.  This paper argues that “the human body includes both visible and invisible parts. The former is the material system and the latter is the energetic system. As matter and energy can be converted into each other, it is important to study the human body from the perspective of both the material and energetic systems, which can complement each other.” [2]

An Integration of Eastern And Western Medicine

As Western or conventional medicine describes our physical system in terms of chemistry. Actually, we now understand that a change in electromagnetic energy precedes a chemical reaction.  In fact, the idea of determining health purely on the tangible or visible is now being integrated with knowledge once embraced only by mystics.

In essence, we’re acknowledging the role of the mind in health.  Moreover, we now understand that thought and emotion are both energy.

How Chakras Impact The Endocrine And Autonomic Nervous System

The endocrine system is a “network of glands in your body that make the hormones that help cells talk to each other. They’re responsible for almost every cell, organ, and function in your body.” [3]

Specifically, the endocrine system secretes hormones or chemical messengers into the bloodstream.  These hormones include adrenalin, insulin, oestrogen and progesterone with the purpose of stimulating or inhibiting certain processes.

In conjunction with the autonomic nervous system, the endocrine system helps us to maintain the parameters needed for good health. This happens as it adjusts the release of chemicals or homones into our bodies.  Moreover, if one of our energy centres is out of balance, the likelihood is that others are too.  In turn, this imbalance negatively impacts our immune system.

How Does The Solar Plexus Impact Our Core Energy And Physical Health

The solar plexus is linked to the pancreas, which lies behind the stomach and secretes chemicals critical to food digestion.  Additionally, it produces insulin to regular blood sugar.

Unsurprisingly, one physical dysfunction related to this energy centre is diabetes.   Additionally, other ailments include stomach ulcers, digestive system complaints and fear.  Actually, if you’ve experienced the “butterflies in the stomach” feeling, this results from adrenalin surges.  We release adrenalin in response to frightening or exciting experiences.

In actual fact, acting as our core, the solar plexus impacts many different organs and functions.  Specifically, imbalance is created by over-energy or under-energy (blocks) in the solar plexus.

What Is The Impact Of Our Core Energy Centre On Our Behaviour?

The three columns below indicate the impact of our core energy centre when it’s blocked, balanced or over-energised.

Over-Energised

When the energy is moving too fast in our Solar Plexus, the following behaviour presents.

  • Feeling Angry
  • Being Controlling
  • Work Addiction
  • Feeling superior – Ego-centric
  • Being Judgemental
  • 100% or 0% Energy Levels
  • Aggressive Towards Self and Others

  • Fearful Of Being Alone
  • Needing Reassurance
  • Insecurity
  • Lack of Energy And Motivation
  • Scattered Mind
